Children’s Yoga Teacher Training in Hong Kong 2026: Everything You Need to Know

  • 4 min read

If you’ve been searching for a children’s yoga teacher training in Hong Kong, you’ve probably realised something quite quickly:there are very few programmes that are both credible and genuinely practical.

Not just a course that gives you ideas but one that actually shows you how to teach real children, in real settings, with confidence.

Whether you’re a teacher, a yoga instructor, or someone working with children, this guide will walk you through:

  • what a children’s yoga qualification actually is

  • what to look for in a training

  • why Hong Kong is a unique place to train

  • and what makes our programme different

What Is a Children’s Yoga Teacher Training (RCYT)?

A children’s yoga teacher training is a specialist qualification that teaches you how to adapt yoga for children of different ages and developmental stages.

The internationally recognised standard is the 95-hour RCYT (Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher) qualification through Yoga Alliance.

This certification allows you to:

  • Teach children’s yoga in schools, studios, and community settings

  • Understand how to adapt yoga for early years, primary, teens and neurodiverse learners

  • Integrate movement, breathwork, and relaxation in a way that is age-appropriate and effective

However - and this is important - not all trainings are created equal. Many courses focus heavily on theory or pre-written lesson plans, but don’t prepare you for what actually happens in a room full of children.

What Should a High-Quality Training Include?

From over 25 years experience in education and over a decade teaching yoga, I’ve found that the most important skills are:

1. How to actually manage a group of children

Not just poses but:

  • How to start and end a class effectively (and calmly)

  • How to handle dysregulation or high energy

  • How to keep children engaged without forcing participation

2. Developmentally appropriate teaching

Children are not small adults. A 3-year-old, a 7-year-old, and a teenager all need completely different approaches, poses and language.

3. Practical tools you can use immediately

You should leave your training knowing:

  • What to do when a class becomes chaotic (and how to prevent that)

  • How to settle a group quickly

  • How to build a class that flows and feels safe for the children

4. A clear understanding of regulation and behaviour

In my work, I focus on regulating the nervous system first, rather than trying to control behaviour.

This is often the missing piece in both education and yoga settings.
