5 fun facts about me
I have lived in many countries and call all of them home including Thailand, Mexico, Hong Kong and more recently, Dubai.
I have worked with children for over 20 years, in education, yoga, special needs, community, healthcare and home settings
Aside from yoga, teaching and travelling, my next biggest passion is dancing! Dancing is both my therapy, my creative outlet and my community. I love to pole dance, salsa dance and hula hoop dance.
I have lived and worked in 10 countries and I have travelled to over 60 countries.
I move around the Globe, sharing my trainings and workshops from community to community.
My goal in life, is to reach as many children as possible across the Globe, with the profound and healing effects of yoga and mindfulness. To empower communities, create social change and positive impact in all areas of the world. (AND to be fluent in Spanish...this is a goal that I'm constantly working on)
And a little bit more about my work....
I started my yoga journey at the age of 15 years, with my first and most inspirational yoga teacher, my grandmother. My Grannie taught me to be humble and playful in my yoga practice and life. Originally from the UK, I definitely consider myself to be a long-term traveller and true-adventurer, committed to life-long learning and to sharing my deepest passions and knowledge with others.
Laura has amazing energy and worked very hard to transfer the experience gained from many many years into 10 days.
- Kashi, yoga teacher trainer
I now have over 20 years experience of both yoga and education! Prior to teaching yoga, I was an international primary school teacher; with a BA Degree in Education and Special Needs and over 16 years experience of working with children in educational and therapeutic settings throughout Asia and the UK.
I have been fortunate to study and work with a range of educational curriculums and philosophies including, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf Steiner and Forest Schools, which has really enabled me to create a unique form of Children’s Yoga by combining my knowledge and pure passion of educational philosophies and teaching methodology with the teachings and practices of yoga.
Laura is one of the most positive, knowledgeable and encouraging teachers I have ever met. Do it!
Caroline Scott, primary school teacher
I learnt the art of teaching yoga whilst training in Southern India to complete my first 200-Hour teacher training programme, on a one-to-one basis, which was predominately focused on Hatha Yoga, Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Nidra and Meditation. This was such an eye opening experience and I knew that I wanted and needed to continue on this learning journey.
Immediately after the training, I started my yoga teaching career in Hong Kong, teaching a wide range of classes to children, teens and adults. I fully immersed myself into yoga learning and completed my Pre-Natal Training and two Children's Yoga Teacher Trainings within my first 6-months of teaching yoga.
My dedication (some may say, obsession) to professional development, personal development and passion for learning, has taken me to Thailand to complete a 300-Hour Yin and Yoga Therapeutics Training; Mexico to train in a 200-Hour Ayurveda Yoga Therapy and Bali for a Yoga Therapy 200-Hour, plus hundreds of hours learning about everything from the subtle body to anatomy to sequencing.
I truly am dedicated to life-long learning and to sharing this passion and knowledge of education and yoga with others; I am fully committed to supporting children and young people world-wide to become resilient, creative, open-minded and accepting individuals who feel confident and compassionate in all that they do.
I have seen first-hand the powerful healing effects that yoga & mindfulness has on children from all backgrounds, and I am passionate about sharing these essential mindfulness tools and techniques to help children and teens express their thoughts, feelings and ideas freely, to self-regulate, self-soothe and heal themselves.
I am limited to how many children I can reach and I need your help!
I’m calling on educators, therapists, parents, community workers, health care professionals, social workers, yoga teachers, volunteer workers - and anyone with a passion to create change in their community or world-wide - so that together we can reach more children and young people across the world. Which will ultimately benefit not only individual children but whole families, schools, communities and countries for years to come.
Laura is simply changing the world, one child at a time!
